History:
| Composed by Tomiyama Seikin I in 1951 for a Shinwa-kai ensemble. An ensemble piece for kokyū, koto, and shakuhachi, Ten'nyo comprises three chapters. Chapter 1 begins with a kokyū solo, which develops into a duet, creating a sho-like feel. Then, a low-pitched koto and shakuhachi are added, creating a gentle and solemn feel. Chapter 2 has a modern feel, featuring high-pitched koto and shakuhachi, with low-pitched parts added in the second half. There is a high-pitched koto solo section, which is technically sophisticated. Chapter 3 features all parts, followed by a repetition and a lively conclusion. |
