History:
| Composed by Tomiyama Seikin in 1965, with lyrics by Komai Yoshiyuki. Commissioned by the NHK. A humorous song for shamisen with koto accompaniment in Jiuta style. Based on the Kyogen play "Kane no Oto". A feudal lord celebrates his son's coming of age by sending a message to Kamakura to announce the price of gold, the material for the sword he is making. However, with a bit of clever wordplay, the messenger Tarokaja mishears the request, and, instead, asks for the ringing of a bell. |
