History:
| A shamisen song with kokyū accompaniment, Yukizeme was composed by Tomiyama Seikin I in 1956, with lyrics by Ōno Keizō. A companion piece to "Hibariyama" (Eleven Faces - 2). Based on the "Snow Torture", the third act of the Joruri and Kabuki plays about Princess Chujo (such as "Tsuruyama Hime Sutematsu," "Pine Trees of Princess Chujo," and "Princess Chujo Hime Hibariyama"). Princess Chujo, daughter of Minister of the Right Yokohagi, is seized by her stepmother, Iwane, who, fearing exposure, tortures Princess Chujo in the snow. |
