History:
| A song for two koto parts and shamisen ensemble. Composed by Tomiyama Seikin I in April 1944, with lyrics by Kobayashi Sakae. It was the theme piece for the 3rd Japanese Music New Works Encouragement Project sponsored by the Japan Cultural Central League. Based on the theme of the guardsmen who appear in Volume 20 of the Man'yōshū, this song is written in a narrative style to describe the lives of guards conscripted from the eastern provinces until they were assigned to defend Korea. |
