Kokū Reibo (Ikkan-ryū)

虚空替手 (一関流)

[Genre]Honkyoku

History (John Singer):

The Ikkan-ryū was established by Miyagi Ikkan who was a student of Kurosawa Kinko I. Originally the Kinko school had no name, however, when the Ikkan-ryū was established the term "Kinko-ryū" began to be used in order to distinguish the two schools or groups. Later the Ikkan style was transmitted to Ikeda Kazue, Yokota Goryū, Yamada Nyodo, Araki Kodō I, and Araki Kodō II. Since Araki Kodō II also studied under the renowned Shakuhachi player Hisamatsu Fūyō of the Kinko school, the Ikkan-ryū merged with the Kinko-ryū. Both schools were very closely connected. The Ikkan-ryū tradition faded out at about the time of the Meiji Restoration.
