Takano Kazuyuki (Takano Shigeru) was born in Tokyo, March 30, 1928.
He studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Nakada Hiroyuki, Abe Keiko, Yamato Matsukazu, and Hisamoto Genchi.
He was a member of the Koto Society and the Folk Music Society.
He was twice awarded at the Tokyo Shimbun Composition Competition as well as serving as professor of Koto at Wesleyan University in the United States in 1969.
