Kikuji Haruko (Tabuchi Haruko) was born March 7, 1902 in Ōsaka. She studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Kikuhara Kotoji, Kikuhara Hatsuko, and Miyagi Michio, earning her masters license in 1918 Affiliated with the Osaka Kinyū-kai and the main chapter of the Osaka Tōdō Ongaku-kai, she was active as both a teacher and performer for more than 50 years.
