Satō Sōrei

Satō Sōrei (Satō Toku) was born in Yamagata City, December 18, 1909. She studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Takarabe Masaki and Endō Shōkō, earning her teaching license in 1940. A member of the Kokufū Ongaku Shōrei-kai, she taught at the Yamagata City School for the Blind for over 20 years and received a letter of appreciation from the Governor of Yamagata Prefecture. She was active as a teacher and performer for more than 40 years.
