Horiuchi Zekū

堀内 是空

Shakuhachi

Horiuchi Zekū was a shakuhachi player who, from his youth, began visiting the former komusō temple, Fudaiji. After its destruction, he was able to rescue many of the relics of the temple, including a well-known statue of Fuke-zenji. The shakuhachi dōjō that he created at his home displayed those relics.
Tragically, his house was completely destroyed in the bombings of World War II.
