Tawara Suiyō

Tawara Suiyō (Tawara Midori) was born in Miyazaki City, April 26, 1916. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Nakamura Sōyō, earning her masters license in 1934. She belonged to the Yōfū-kai and was head of the Midori-kai. During a career as performer and teacher spanning more than 50 years she received numerous awards from the Welfare Association and the Prefectural Governor.
