Takamura Makise (Takamura Masako) was born in Tokyo, August 11, 1913. She studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Satō Miyose I and Seki Kikusei, earning her Shihan (masters license) in 1951. An active performer and teacher for over 50 years, she belonged to the Seiga-kai and was head of the Nagaoka Mitsuru-kai.
