Born in Kōchi City, July 25, 1930, Kubota Wayō (Kubota Kazuyo) studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Tanimura Terue and Nakamura Sōyō. She started teaching in 1948 and belonged to the Yōfū-kai.
