Born in Hyōgo Prefecture, March 4, 1902, Nakajima Genkyō (Nakajima Yasunori) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Kikuhara Kotoji, earning his Shihan (teaching license) in 1929. Active as a teacher and performer for almost 60 years, he was a director of the Tōdō Ongaku-kai, executive of the Kinyū-kai, and chairman of the Hyōgo Sōmon Renmei.
