With a career spanning more than 50 years, Nishikimoto Yayoi was born in Yamaguchi Prefecture, April 23, 1895. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Funada Kiku (lineage of Hase Kengyō) and belonged to the Kikune-kai.
