Ban Sonokiku (Ban Kikuko) was born January 22, 1941 in Tokyo. She studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Yamakawa Enshō and started teaching in 1962. She was a member of the 6th term of the NHK Hōgaku Skill Development Group, and received the NHK Saiichi Diploma in 1962. She belonged to the Shunwa-kai and Misono-kai.
