Born October 1, 1915, Fukuda Sōkō (Fukuda Chiyo) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Nosaka Sōjū and began teaching in 1952.
Active as a teacher and performer for more than 50 years, she was head of the Beni-kai, affiliated with the Matsunomi-kai, a council member of the Japan Sankyoku Association, and a delegate of the Ikuta-kai.
