Born March 11, 1923 in Wakayama Prefecture, Fukutani Yukiko (Ōtani Kiko) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Fukumori Toshiko (Fukunaga lineage). In 1939, she became an assistant in the Koto Department at the Ōta Music School. She belonged to the Eiraku-kai in Kyoto. She was active as a performer and teacher for more than 40 years.
