Maruyama Hisanobu (Maruyama Nobu) was born February 9, 1912 in Tokyo. She studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Ishii Shōsei and Makibuchi Hisae and began teaching in 1951. She belonged to the Jigen-kai and was active as a performer and teacher for more than 40 years.
