Born December 13, 1947 in Hiroshima Prefecture, Matsumoto Kakō (Matsumoto Hiroko) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Kobayakawa Kahō, earning her teaching license in 1971. She was a member of the Chikushi-kai.
