Mitsui Kayako (Mitsui Michiko) was born January 28, 1905 in Yamaguchi Prefecture. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Chikushi Katsuko and became a teacher in 1932. She was a director of the Tsukushi-kai Headquarters, director of the Tokuyama Hōgaku Kyōkai, and head of the Chikushi-kai Utayanomi-kai. Her career spanned more than 40 years.
