Mochida Makiko was born December 15, 1941 in Tokyo. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Miyagi Shinzō and began teaching in 1965. She was a councillor of the Kinrei-kai and a former member of the NHK Ikusei-kai.
