Born January 1, 1917 in Yamagata Prefecture, Moriya Sōhō (Moriya Tsuyuko) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Endō Shōkō. She started teaching in 1940, and was a member of the Kokufū Ongaku Shōrei.
