Born July 1, 1899 in Kyoto Prefecture, Mori Seichū (Mori Rikichirō) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Watanabe Masayuki (of the Hagiwara Seigin lineage). He started teaching in 1920. He belonged to the Kyoto Dō-kai and was a teacher and performer for more than 50 years.
