Born July 17, 1922 in Tokyo, Yasuki Chieno (Yasuki Sumiko) studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Nakanoshima Kinichi, earning her teaching credential in 1959. During her more than 40-year career as a performer and teacher, she was head of Shirogane-kai and a councillor of the Japan Sankyoku Association.
