Born June 14, 1922 in Wakayama Prefecture, Yamada Sadako studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Kikumasa Toshiko and Yamada Chiyo ( her mother).
She began teaching in 1958 and belonged to the Wakayama branch of the Nihon Tōdō Ongaku-kai.
