Yamamoto Kakiyō (Yamamoto Kaede) was born August 3, 1943 in Kagoshima Prefecture. She studied the Ikuta-ryū repertoire under Kusuda Kashū (shamisen) and Maruo Kasei (koto). She began teaching in 1967 and belonged to the Chikushi-kai.
