Yamamoto Karyō (Yamamoto Kazuko) was born February 25, 1932 in Kyoto Prefecture. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Chikushi Kaneko and began teaching in 1962. She was a member of the Chikushi-kai, a council member of the Osaka Sankyoku Association, and a member of the Oriental Music Association and Shion-kai.
