Born April 25, 1910 in Kagoshima Prefecture, Kusuda Kashū (Kusuda Kimiko) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Chikushi Katsuko.
She started teaching in 1935, was a director of the Chikushi-kai, and head of the Sumire-kai.
