Makibuchi Hisae (Makibuchi Kura) was active in the Hōgaku world for more than 60 years. She was born August 12, 1902 in Niigata Prefecture, and studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Hagioka Shoin II. She started teaching in 1922. She was president of the Jigen-kai and a council member of the Nihon Sankyoku Kyōkai.
