Seki Kikuse (Seki Kiku) was born September 29, 1891 in Tochigi Prefecture. She studied Yamada-ryū shamisen and koto under Satō Miyose I and Hagioka Shōin I, earning her Shihan (masters certification) in 1921. She received the Nihon Sankyoku Kyōkai Senior Citizen Award in 1968. Active as a performer and teacher for almost 60 years, she presided over the Kikumi-kai and was a member of the Seiga-kai and Mitsuwa-kai.
