Born July 30, 1912, Hirano Kiyose (Hirano Itsuko) was originally from Tokyo. She studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Koshino Eishō I and Hirano Kiyosenju (her mother). She began her teaching career in 1945. During her more than 40 years in Hōgaku, she was head of Seirō-kai, a planning committee member of the Nihon Sankyoku Kyōkai, and a council member of the Yamada-ryū Kyōkai.
