Born in Hiroshima Prefecture, February 28, 1912, Hamada Kayoko (Hamada Chieko) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Chikushi Katsuko. She started teaching in 1931. Active as a performer and teacher for more than 50 years, she was a director of the Chikushi-kai and the head of the Fukuyama branch.
