Watanabe Kashō (Watanabe Tei) was born July 4, 1908 in Akita Prefecture. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Chikushi Katsuko and began teaching in 1942. She was the head of the Sendai branch of the Chikushi-kai.
