Watanabe Shikyō (Watanabe Kinji) was born October 1, 1889 in Fujiyoshida City. He studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under Sato Saku, Koshino Eishō I, and Koshino Eishō II. He graduated from the Western Music Department of the Imperial Theater in 1912.
