Funada Kiku was born November 8, 1896, in Kumamoto. She studied Ikuta-ryū koto under Hase Kengyo (Hase Yuki), Kawashima Kuniko, and Katō Chieko, and began teaching in 1912. She was the head of the Kikune-kai and a Councillor of the Japan Sankyoku Association. She was active in the Hōgaku community for more than 70 years. She passed away December 11, 1991.
