Inoue Sodō (Inoue Yoshiro) was born February 10, 1902 in Fukuoka City. He studied Kinko-ryū and Meian-ryū shakuhachi under Yamazaki Chikuin and Nakamura Kikufū. He belonged to the Chikuryū-yū, Mutsumi-kai and Kikufū-kai, and was active in the shakuhachi world for more than 50 years.
