Born August 10, 1914 in Oita Prefecture, Ōishi Kyodō (Ōishi Tetsuo) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Koga Getsudō, Tsukamoto Gadō, and Jin Nyodo. He started teaching in 1949 and belonged to the Dōshi-kai.
