Sugimoto Sekiunsai (Sugimoto Hide) was born July 29, 1910. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Aoki Reibo I. He started teaching in 1935. Over his 50-year career he was the president of the Yūgumo-kai, was a member of the Reibo-kai, and a member of the Japan Sankyoku Council.
