Born March 26, 1904 in Hiroshima Prefecture, Tanioka Seiho (Tanioka Kuniichi) studied Chikuho-ryū shakuhachi under Tanaka Shūho. He started teaching in 1924. He belonged to the Seiyū-kai. His career in the shakuhachi world spanned five decades.
