Born November 29, 1926 in Ishikawa Prefecture, Nakayama Ōdō (Nakayama Tatsuo) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Ikeda Kōdō I. He started teaching in 1966. He was a senior member of the Osaka and Kobe branches of the Judō-kai.
