Numajiri Rodō (Numajiri Kōjūrō) was born on February 20, 1903 in Saitama Prefecture. Over his 50+-year career he studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Araki Kodō III and began teaching in 1934. He belonged to the Dōso-kai and was a councilor of the Japan Sankyoku Association.
