Funakoshi Seizan (Funakoshi Yukio) was born March 3, 1925 in Shimane Prefecture. He studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Uchida Bazan. He started teaching in 1948. Winner of the Honkyoku Competition in 1968, he was an auditor of the Shimane Prefecture Branch of the Tozan-ryū Shakuhachi Gaku-kai, and head of the Tozan-ryū Seikin Association.
