Maeda Shunpū (Maeda Kazuhide) was born June 11, 1926 in Fukuoka Prefecture. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Iura Kifū (Satō Seibi lineage). He began teaching in 1953. He was Chief of the Kitakyushu branch of the Bifū-kai, vice-chairman of the Kokura Sankyoku-kai, and vice-chairman of the Kitakyushu Sankyoku-kyōkai.
