Born on February 15, 1932 in Kagawa Prefecture, Matsumoto Kōfū (Matsumoto Hiromichi) studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Horie Shunpū. He was the business manager of Bifū-kai and belonged to its Tokujoji.
