Koto - Shamisen

Born in Tokyo, January 22, 1905, Nosaka Sōju I (Nosaka Misao) studied Ikuta-ryū koto and shamisen under Matsushima Itoju and received her Shihan (masters license) from Amagasa Saiju.
She began teaching in 1926.
She was president of the Matsunomi-kai, vice-president of the Matsusei-kai, and a director of the Nihon Sankyoku Kyōkai and the Ikuta-kai.
She was active as both a performer and teacher for more than 50 years.
