Iida Kyorei (Iida Nagatoshi) was born on September 9, 1914 in Gifu prefecture. He studied Kinko-ryū shakuhachi under Ōyabu Shūrei of the Kinko-ryū and Moriyasu Nyotō (Shūtō) of Kinpū-ryū. He belonged to the Kinko-ryū Tamagawa-sha, Kobe Chidori-kai, and Kinko-ryū Chikushin-kai.
