Kiyota Shōdō (original name 鉄二 Tetsuji) was born in Nagasaki on January 22, 1924. He studied the Kinko-ryū repertoire under his father, Kiyota Shōdō (清田章童) and belonged to the Nagasaki Chikuyu-kai.
