Born in Tokyo, July 13, 1901, Takahashi Eisei II (Takahashi Matsuko) studied Yamada-ryū koto and shamisen under her father, the first Takahashi Eisei as well as with Yonekawa Kinō and Kawase Satoko. Active as a teacher and performer for more than 70 years, she served as chairman of the Shōchō-kai and a director of the Nihon Sankyoku Kyōkai. She was designated as Takahashi Eisei II in 1939 and was awarded the Order of the Precious Crown, Fifth Class, in 1947.
