Born in Kagoshima Prefecture March 10, 1934, Kikusuyo Makiko (Nishi Makiko) studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Kikusu Shiryū. She started teaching in 1967 and was a member of the Tōdō Ongaku-kai.
