Kikuhide Masae (Nishimura Masae) was born in Nara Prefecture, September 14, 1903. He studied Ikuta-ryū shamisen and koto under Kikusuga Kotoei and received his teachers license in 1919. A member of the Nihon Tōdō Ongaku-kai head chapter, he was a teacher and performer for more than 50 years.
